About CandleBench

CandleBench is a set of free calculators for candle makers. It covers the parts of the craft that involve arithmetic — how much wax a vessel needs, how much fragrance oil to weigh in, how to scale a batch, what a candle really costs to make, and what to charge for it.

Why it exists

Most candle calculators give you a number and nothing else. If it looks wrong, you have no way to find out why. Every calculator here shows the arithmetic underneath, so you can check the result instead of trusting it.

The tools also try to keep the awkward details rather than round them away. Wax density and fill level stay as separate inputs instead of being collapsed into a single factor that only holds for soy. Fragrance load asks whether your percentage is measured against the wax or the finished weight, because suppliers mean both. Pricing keeps margin and markup apart and solves for the price rather than adding fees on afterwards.

Where the numbers come from

The arithmetic is exact — it is shown on every page, so you can verify it yourself. The reference data is a different matter. Wax densities and maximum fragrance loads are typical industry figures gathered from manufacturer specifications, and they vary between suppliers and between batches.

Your supplier’s spec sheet always takes precedence over anything here. The reference data was last reviewed in August 2026.

What this is not

These are planning tools, not a substitute for testing. No calculator can tell you how a particular wax, wick, fragrance and vessel will behave together — only a test burn does that. Nothing here is safety certification, product compliance advice, or business advice. Candle labelling, fragrance classification and safety assessment requirements differ by country, and you should check what applies where you sell.
